Childcare Transitions Programme
KWC and Kilcooley Primary School work closely together on the early intervention programmes they co-deliver in the estate. The KWC 'Ideas Team' and the KPS Management Team developed an early years transition programme, with assistance from the Department for Communities (DfC). This project, will enable a smoother journey for children, from their engagement in Jellietots Childcare or Smarties Playgroup, to mainstream Nursery and Primary 1. KWC will now operate the Smarties Playgroup (2-3) and (3-4) in the old Nurture unit, and Nurture will now occupy a newly appointed room at the front of the school. The flow of children as they progress on their educational journey will be smoother, with nurture a key feature in the Key Stage 1 area of the school.
The transition programme will also enable us to furher expand our sensory programme, which has been supported by Cash for Kids (NI).
For more information on our early years programmes contact Tracy Harrison or Alison Blayney in the centre.
