COPE (Connecting Older People Electronically)
** NEW PROJECT LAUNCHED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CO DOWN RURAL NETWORK **
COPE PROJECT - "Connecting Older People Electronically"
This new project will connect older communities in Kilcooley (Bangor), Ballywalter and Portaferry, through a series of workshops to help them understand, use and maximise social media to communicate.
Funded by Policing Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) the progamme will specifially work with groups to enable them to access electronic crime prevention and reporting platforms to help tackle crime and the fear of crime amongst this age group.
Help will be given to understand your 'smartphone', iPad/tablet and other devices. Participants will gain skills in Skype, to enable them to communicate locally and further afield via the internet, helping them save on telephone calls and reduce the feeling of social isolation.
Classes will be held between September 2017 and March 2018 in Kilcooley Women's Centre, Ballywalter Village Hall and Portaferry (location to be confirmed). For information on availability contact Megan Wilson, PCSP project administrator in KWC or our partners in the Ards Peninsula, County Down Rural Network via Sandra Henderson.Back
