Young Women's Empowerment
KWC operates a bespoke project to support young women aged 16-30 to enhance their personal development, employment opportunities and skills base. YWEP (young women's empowerment programme) recognises that regardless of current educational attainment, all young women should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. This project supports, guides and mentors young women, ensuring the training they engage on is appropriate and pitched at their level. The project (funding permitted) operates in Kilcooley and across the wider Ards North Down region to support young women from all backgrounds, educational achievement, with one to one mentoring available.
A portfolio of training opportunities and personal devleopment activities are designed to equip and empower young women, to help them upskill to go back into training, education or employment. The training is developed by a steering group, made up of representatives of the young women participants, who direct the programme staff to ensure they are delivering opportunities which are relevant to the client group.
Megan Wilson is the point of contact within the Centre for Young Women's activity. Childcare support in Jellietots & Smarties Childcare Settings is built into the programme. For information on opportunities for young women, contact Megan on 91478292.
