The Affirmation Project (project completed March 2016) 2 July 2015
Kilcooley Women’s Centre is delighted to be working in partnership with the Department of Justice Assets Recovery Community Scheme to deliver a new project over the coming year. The Affirmation Project aims to work towards a safer, shared community with an intergenerational approach with localised initiatives for young offenders and older people.
Working closely with Woodlands Juvenile Correction Centre and their Market Garden the project will encourage them to contribute positively to the local community by producing seasonal vegetables, planters and floral art to local good causes such as the local primary school at Kilcooley.
The project will also be interwoven into community planting schemes. The allotment site at Kilcooley will provide mental health and wellbeing opportunities for victims of crime and people who fear crime.
We will be running a series of workshops making summer baskets and Christmas wreathes.
We are excited about the opportunity to work with the Department of Justice through Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) in the delivery of this project.
